The red brocket (Mazama americana) is a species of deer that lives in South America. Its habitat ranges from Colombia to Northern Argentina.

"Saving the Sabretooth"[]
A red brocket was seen grazing while Saba was observing a female Smilodon. The Smilodon attempts to ambush it, but since the direction of the wind is windward, the brocket is able to pick up the Smilodon's scent and flees. The Smilodon is forced to prematurely charge after it, but since the brocket is smaller and lightly built compared to the Smilodon's usual prey, as noted later by Nigel, it was able to get away. Since this species was still alive in the present, no plans to bring it back were made.
Behind the Scenes[]
- Instead of using a live red brocket for the episode, a CGI version was used in order to display the interaction between the sabre-tooth cat and the brocket.
